The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 前面部分是温子仁擅长的鬼屋恐惧，惊悚的氛围，很多夜景画面质感十足，后20分钟直接血腥程度起飞，让人目瞪口呆！虽然没有通篇延续之前的灵异惊悚恐怖，感觉温子仁回到了【电锯惊魂1】的初心，血腥拉满。……甚至在真相设置上有一丝致敬【死寂】的震撼感，中间还有打趣【招魂3】的对话。虽然真相是（隐藏），但Gabriel可以控制电磁信号，还是有些超自然的设定的。
一件一件美好被记录下来，一条一条回忆被悄然删去。在流逝的有限的生命里，点亮了一个绝望透顶的男人，谈了一场没有结果的恋爱。很美很遗憾，很老套很平淡，但看得津津有味。
昨晚看完，今早起来女儿在沙发上玩磕到了后脑勺，双手抓后脑，哭叫着要撒娇一下，我以为她要给我从后脑撕出个Gabriel来。
去你X的删减版，这是部数一数二的砍杀电影！温子仁对镜头和氛围的把控依旧登峰造极，片头配乐气势十足并一酷到底，观感爽快一气呵成，绝对是最近必看的恐怖电影。剧情上，不得不说，这部电影其实算得上是对斯蒂芬金The dark half的重新解构，从核心点子到凶杀元素都极其相似，只是在是真是假上温子仁选择走了另一条路，也非常不错。但如果看过The dark half的话，该片的剧情就略感乏味了，最终结局的反转虽更合理，但也谈不上让人意料之外。另外温子仁这部电影有着大量其他恐怖片的影子，恐怖片影迷非常享受。
温子仁是中了《速激》的邪，也开始搞family这套了……

一般吧。主要是没有触动到我，很难想象被宣判生命进入倒计时之后心态会产生怎样翻天覆地的变化。。。
黑木华的演技才叫演戏。。。坂口健太郎花期好短。。。
很日本的风格，只是绝症的故事到2022年看，就觉得有点普通了，毕竟日本拍这类片太多了，催泪且煽情，故事拍得也没有过于出彩，从电影的角度上看，一般吧。
除了开头部分，基本都没有温导标志性的压迫感氛围，情节逻辑的设定也是吐槽向，显得魔障又神棍。但没办法，一个好底可以遮百丑，虽然是一边刺痒一边拆了好多无聊的纸包，但最后“挠挠”两个字，还是足以成为津津乐道的经典了。
