The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 青春洋溢，少年啊少年，做自己喜欢的事情吧！只能被自己定义，加油！
好多人告诉我，回头看这些都不算什么，但是对我现在来说真的很重要，重要的难以放下，如果没能做到就会耿耿于怀。
没看过原版，单纯感觉这版还是很清爽的，虽然部分剧情仍不免俗套，但没有玛丽苏没有洒狗血更没有堕胎，新人表现也是可圈可点。印象深刻的部分除了结尾的高能时刻，还有张伟两段情绪失控的地方：“不是每个人都是你！”以及抖音“太难了”
尽管有很明显的缺点，但有几幕竟给我看泪目了，我们都是平凡的“张伟”
借着热血青春的名义拍的这么俗气拉胯，是这么多人都没看过优秀的青春片吗？？确实看着是挺青春的，也挺有活力，但是所谓的热血我觉得挺狗血的。而且传统中国大陆式青春片的盲目自嗨，真的让人嗨不起来，本来开头看着还可以的，后续越来越不行，乱七八糟，为了热闹而瞎热闹。不是拍了点夏天的阳光、大海、少年就是青春片了，讲故事手法能不能别再这么俗，这么不符合实际了？！自嗨无前途！
剧情略显老套，我并不觉得竞技体育会像影片这样，付出就有收获，努力就会成功。但张伟深夜在蹦床上练习弹跳，在被告知队伍解散医院的哭诉，在无数次尝试终于成功的动作。有被感动到。
没想到竟然选了钢铁洪流作为表演开场的音乐。和原版不一样的扑水少年，改编的非常本土化，电影很不错，虽然目前的现实里它几乎不可能发生。
没有狗血爱情的青春片yyds，意想不到的好看!
如果在暑期档，会更好。有一层一层的反骨展现出来，但最后的反骨还要靠年轻人。

6.0分。同档期最佳。相比起来，日版明显更纯粹、有青春气。日版一上来就是妻夫木聪游泳，游了最后一名，但气氛一点都不悲，角色虽然在哭，却没有把这种失败当回事。他们的表演开始是为了筹钱还债，后来是为了给高中生活留下一点回忆，都跟梦想毫无关系。他们的字典里没有loser这个词，他们从始至终并没有想要证明什么。在日版里，大人是几乎不在场的，全片完全不涉及五个主角的家庭出身。这就是一群高中生要做成一件事，完成一次团体表演。不为了特定的目的而去，他们就是在享受青春的尾巴，享受成为大人前的最后时光。中国版里，则涉及了家庭父母对孩子的期许要求，涉及了少年们急吼吼地要去思考自己要成为什么样的大人这样的问题。我们习惯了去上纲上线上价值，却忽略了最单纯的东西往往最动人。我们的青春、青春片，都在外界的催熟下，过于早熟了。
根正苗红的励志片，和青不青春可能最后没有多大的关系（参考《大浴场》），最后的落脚点是“证明自己”这个国产电影最为安全的区域。主流话语下被规训的创作，虽然有些可惜，但在划定的范围里把故事讲得不雷也不尬，拍得又如此认真，还是相当不易。
很喜欢张伟在跳床上翻跟斗的那场戏，蓝色承载了一切。

青春片能拍成这样没有耍酷的，已经很不错了。挺用心的励志了，感谢一下片子里面一些有名演员的表演支持。
3星。太多太多的人都是平平淡淡的一生，想给男主推荐看《心灵奇旅》，不是人人都当哪吒人生才有价值。
没有技巧，全是感情。居然有主办方会愚蠢到要砍掉唯一的男子花游项目？？普通自卑的高中生日常，热血的点其实也很简单，哪里需要头破血流狗血淋头。也有可能是满屏美好的肉体使我色令智昏。
真是够青春啊！勇气、信念，这一次我想赢。最后很让人感动，我们只被自己定义。
